Minor Bragging....

I had to post this because it's probably never going to happen again. The boss man and me after Florida headed to another meeting in NC with a top account. Long story short, the CEO of the boat company didn't like the fact that we were traveling commercial so he offered up his private jet for our trip back to Atlanta....As Ferris Bueller would say...."So choice, I highly recommend it"....

Anyways, it really was cool and greatly appreciated.

The Pilot probably thought I was a dork for wanting to take a pic with him but who cares....

Scratch it off the List

I'm down in Stuart, Florida right now at the Hewes/Maverick/Pathfinder/Cobia dealer meeting representing Yamaha. We didn't have much going today so I had the opportunity to go fishing. Before I go into the actual day, I want to say that one of the things that I have written down to do before I leave this earth is to catch a Tarpon fly fishing. I've never even been Tarpon fishing let alone fishing for one on the fly. Well today the opportunity would present itself to scratch it off the list. It's number 24 on the list of 27 by the way.

Phil (boss man) and I met our captain at the dock at 7am and headed out. Our captain was a real good dude named Mike that was a pleasure to fish with. We fished the beach side of Jupiter Island. Which by the way is where there is an obscene amount of wealth. Tiger and Greg Norman both reside on the island so we saw a few nice places.

We finally found the Tarpon and started fishing. Phil got hooked up but it spit the hook quick after one jump. About another 20 minutes later he hooked up again and this one jumped 3 to 4 times before it finally spit it. Tarpon, by the way are known for their acrobatic displays. So Phil passed the rod off to me.

I was into for about 30 minutes when I finally got hooked up....and it was on!!! It immediately made a huge run and finally made a jump. When it jumped I didn't even realize it was my fish because it was beast. Long story short I fought it for about one hour. We touched the leader, which is considered a catch and said farewell to our friend. I have to say that the fish kicked my butt all over the place. I'm a tad sore right now needless to say. Mike said it probably went for about 100 pounds. Nice!!!

After that, Phil got hooked up and had about the same amount of fight time with some awesome jumps that we got pics of. See below. It was cool because this was Phil's first Tarpon so he was pretty stoked about the whole deal. The people around the meeting were also amazed that I had never Tarpon fished before and got one on my first shot...On a fly no less....

All in all, it was freakin' awesome and I officially get to scratch something off my list....

Here are a few pics from the day. Mike took some pics with his big camera so hopefully I'll get a few more of my fish from him....

Sunrise before the morning's fishing adventure....

Phil spooled up....Great shot....

Captain Mike....Great dude....

Me getting smoked headed towards the beach...I think you can see Greg Norman on the beach rootin' me on....

After 6 months into this new year I finally made it out to the lake on Thursday evening after work. Todd, Gorski, Wu-Tang and I loaded up the G3 after the work day and headed up to Allatoona for a few hours. What a great evening!!! Gorsk and Wu-Tang don't have a lot of time on a boat so they really dug the entire experience. For only a couple hour trip it was a good time...

Gorski lovin' life...

Todd can pretty much get a bird's nest in anything he casts...

Wu-Tang enjoying a bullet while manning the helm...

I'm down in Florida right now at a dealer meeting and am going fishing tomorrow for some Tarpon and Snook...Hopefully I'll have some awesome pics and stories to share...

Wonder Boy

At about 3:45pm EST the rain starting coming down along with some ferocious winds blowing. All of a sudden...Boom, Bam, Kabang, Whack, Crack....!!!!!! Holy crap, that lightning was close. And apparently it was....Check out the below pic. Totally shredded the tree and blew up the sprinkler system underground. Cool stuff. It's a good thing one of the Japanese dudes wasn't out there firing up a heater.....

Oakmont Rocks

I'm not a great golfer and I get miffed when I watch the pros play and make it look so gosh darn easy. Not so much the case this weekend. Has anybody been watching these guys just get smoked by this course. Freakin' great. I'm sure I would be about +87, but who cares, I just get to sit on the couch and make fun. Gotta get back to it. Tiger's in the bunker at 17 and down by one......

Good weekend....

Had a busy weekend that just ended.....I feel like a typical Brave's fan as I left in the top of the seventh inning because the Braves were down a couple. Needless to say they came back and won. Nice.

Anyways, a couple of take aways from the weekend....

- So far enjoying my new toy (More on this later)
- Went to the AVP at Atlantic Station yesterday and saw the tannest people on earth
- I'm gonna miss Rye Rye when he moves to Lauderdale
- Rio Grande in Buckhead was insane on Sat. night
- Only two more weeks of softball (14 week season)
- We need some rain
- I want the media to stop talking about Paris
- I was reminded once again that I need to swallow my pride and be more humble
- The Super Crunch Roll at Genke is phenomenal

More to come this week....

Lasers, Fireworks, Music and Friends

This past weekend turned out to be freakin' outstanding. I knew I was going to be busy and hanging with a bunch of my buds but for some reason I didn't think it was going to be so fun.

Friday night, Amanda and I cruised to Stone Mountain to see the laser show. Besides for some corny "The South will Rise Again" type stuff, it was pretty cool. Lasers and fireworks combined are always a good thing. The music selection was decent although they did play a Toby Keith patriotic ballad. All in all....Cool stuff....

Saturday, a bunch of us headed up to Northpoint for the annual singles event Gig on the Grass. Basically, it's an outdoor concert on a huge lawn area. We brought our grub and a few blankets to enjoy the show. They had a great playlist ranging from 80's Power Ballads, Country, Top 40 and of course "Sweet Home Alabama". I would say that there were about 15 of us in the group but saw a whole bunch more people that we knew. Great times.

What else you ask.....Well on Sunday after Church my buddy Christopher called and said he and his wife were going to be in the Highlands for Summer Fest. I had nothing going on so I met him and Karen down there along with her friends. Basically, Summer Fest is a bunch of people selling art and other knick knack stuff along the streets with a bunch of food vendors and a free concert. Marc Broussard was the headliner for the evening and him and his crew tore it up. If you haven't heard Marc B I highly suggest you invest 99 cents and get a few songs.

Wow, big weekend I tell ya. Great music, cool lasers, great times with good friends....What more can a guy ask for....?????
